I am from the Philippines, but I consider myself a native English speaker, because my mother is American and English is the language we always use at home. About ten years ago, I too had to take the GRE and TOEFL for graduate school applications. My brother, one year older than me, took the GRE a year ahead of me, but took the TOEFL at the same time as me. The TWE (Test of Written English) at the time was in an experimental phase, so although we both took it and received a score for it, the score did not count for nor against us.

The GRE and TOEFL itself are all multiple choice tests, so I gather that you are worrying about the TWE. Well, bearing in mind that both my brother and I are native speakers, and we just happened to receive the same essay question ("What is your favorite section of the newspaper and why?"), we got very different scores. I got 6/6, while he got a passable 3/6. The content of the essay is irrelevant; we both answered that we do not regularly read the papers, except perhaps for the comic strips. I have no idea how my brother backed his answer, but I defended my position by narrating a story, telling how I once *had* to read the paper for class, and didn't find it very informative, nor very credible. Apparently, that made all the difference.

I model my writing after some of my favorite writers, particularly Mark Twain and Isaac Asimov. Unless you are aiming to be a writer yourself, there's no need to be terribly original in your style. Mimic.

And Mad Mona is right: your English, judging from your question, is very good. Don't let the time limit send you into a panic. If you feel panic creeping upon you, write an outline for your essay, and that will help you calm down, while being productive as well. All the best to you!

i offer you chatting because i learned english by myself by chatting and listening music and watching movie now i can write but cant speak well :)
or you can try to translate both language ( mother tongue and english ) the reason why i am here :)
choose any text ( short stories , essays, ) and try to translate them
or hang over here and try to answer questions yahoo spell checker will help you a lot
