Writing Sentences In English

Edith Said:

English grammar: question about writing unfinished sentences?

We Answered:

First of all--just to correct your English:

You said "How is it called" -- instead, say "What is it called"

Overall, you have very good English and you speak fluently, yet formally. :)

What you are referring to is called a "cliffhanger," I think.

Jessie Said:

when do i use 'a' when writing english?

We Answered:

Hi, I think it should be this:

"a" is the singular article corresponding to "some"... for example, you could say:

i would like some grapes

or

i would like a grape

It you only want ONE grape, it would be "a" grape. another thing to keep in mind is that "a" always goes in front of objects, you must use "an" if the word following begins with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u)

for example in your question you said:

"can you guys give me some examples?"

this could be:

"can you guys give me an example?"

if you were talking about just one example, not multiple examples.

... hope i interpreted your question right and hope this is useful to you!
