Writing In English As A Second Language
Tony Said:
Progran to learn english as second language. Primary language is Chinese. Need workbook and CD.?We Answered:
Firstly, you do not necessarily need a workbook and CD to learn English. How to learn english depends on what the students' first language is.If the students' first language is English, then I would find out where they make mistakes and focus on those. The best way to do this is to assign them writing assignments in class.
If their first language has a similar grammar structure as English, then you can go into rules and how English grammar works.
If their language does not have a similar Grammar structure, (e.g Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian) then I wouldn't bother at all, just teach them what to say and don't focus on the rules.
Also you can find a book that has two language editions: both in English and in Chinese languages. The book should be interesting i.e. novels, thrillers etc. If the book is about a topic that interest the students, then they will be motivated to read and analyse/compare grammar structures between Chinese/English. Hope my answer helps you.

10 points. Please help me interpret my ex's writing. English is my second language. Thank you.?We Answered:
Sounds like a bunch of BS to make himself feel better about a bad choice. Don't try to read into it or even make sense of it. Move on and let him wallow in his guilt of whatever he thinks he did... or didn't do. What a nut!Suzanne Said:
Is this why English, as a second language, can be difficult to learn I?We Answered:

10 points for the best --Please help me interpret my ex's writing. English is my second language. Thank youWe Answered:
the first line suggests that he is thinking about why people can not stay true to their relationships and work on it instead of going out and finding pleasure in others he is saying that although some people blame this on their cultures it is not how he wants a relationship to be, when he says some operate outside the cultural conventions it can cause a lot of emotional distress, he means that he is hurting. Did one of you have an affair? he thinks it is more important to be with someone long term and love only them than to just seek someone for instant gratification. when he says about the relationship from the young to their elders he is saying that there is respect for the older generation and maybe he did not feel you respected him, maybe he was older than you and felt you needed to show him more respect than you did, where he said "many conventions of personal relationships an be broken but still remain with in the boundaries of morality, there are many that these agreements can't be broken with us not considering them wrong" he is explaining that he valued your relationship and some things are exceptable but what ever happened he saw this act as unforgivable and disrespectful, he feels you broke your promise to him, he seems like an old fashioned guy who beleives in building a long lasting and loving relationship he does not beleive that a person should stray or seek instant gratification, the is saying that you broke your promise to him and if you were married to him and had an affair the only solution for him is to let you go and divorce you, this guy is hurting and although he has not put it in a way for you to understand he is warning other people to respect their relationships and stay true to each other, he valued your relationship and considered it a promise to stay faithful to each other this seems to have been broken so he is saying if you love and respect someone you should resist the instant pleasures in life that do not really mean any thing to you and to value the relationships you have before you lose them. don't get caught in a cycle of finding someone and thinking you care then moving on to the next before you are finished with the first, honey the best thing you can do is move on with your life he is saying don't make the same mistake as before,Ann Said:
Why do some people who learn English as a second language use certain words, depending on where they're from?We Answered:
I'm Swedish and I know what you're talking about. When I try to improve my English, that's one of the things I find the most difficult. Sure, I can study the words, but it's difficult to form sentences that sound like a native. Especially since I rarely speak English with natives. In fact, I rarely speak English at all.I often find myself writing English sentences with a Swedish structure, almost literally translated from my native language. This results in some kind of ”Swenglish”. You can't always map a Swedish expression perfectly to an English expression. For example, there's a Swedish pronoun ”man”, that's similar to the English pronoun ”one” (as in ”one can only hope”). This is a very common word in Swedish, but unusual in English. Still it's part of my "mental language". In lack of a better translation, I tend to overuse the pronoun ”you” instead (e.g. ”You know...”, ”You could say that...”, ”You can't always...” and so on).
It's also part of the Scandinavian culture to be quite straight to the point, using simple and direct language.
