What has happened to the English language and writing? ?We Answered:
It originated with abbreviations firstly from 'text language' I'm guessing - because often texts would be so long they'd be sent as two texts, costing more money. So people shortened words and phrases to make their text the price of one text.Other factors of course helped - such as with children you'll often find they can be very slow at typing when introduced to the computer; so they too will use abbreviations.
About not using abbreviations but just terrible phrasing - I suppose that can come from dialect and accents. For example, in Manchester people would say "that was well good" which technically doesn't make sense but everyone still uses it, and it becomes a habit.
Why does the trend continue? Your surroundings I'm guessing, along with not as much stress from teachers on correcting people's use of language. Nowadays, I wouldn't think people are as bothered with the English language than maybe... 70 or so years ago.

What do you think about Shakira as an English language songwriter? Is she good writing in english? We Answered:
I don't think she's quite as good in English as she is in Spanish. Her lyrics in Spanish are more soulful and better written than in English. She actually tells stories and is quite a wordsmith in Spanish. It seems to me her songs in English are more successful because of the melodies than the lyrics. I think most people who enjoy her songs in English like them because of their beat, the rhythm and the videos. In a sense I think she's more of a commercial success in America because she makes people want to dance and look at her than because her words are beautiful. I wish mainstream America would hear her first album in Spanish. Every song in that album is probably just as good, in Spanish, as anything Alanys Morrissette ever wrote and just as funky, bold and inspirational. Viva Shakira!Willie Said:
is there a website that will help me on my GCSE English language original writing ?We Answered:
http://www.eriding.net/amoore/gcse/writi…This was the only website I could find, sorry.
I would advise that you plan out what you're going to write- what's going to happen, how it's going to start, how it's going to end- and stick to it. Make sure to include language techniques, such as metaphors, similes, personification, alliteration, and also lots of descriptive words and set it out in paragraphs. When you finish, you can check it over for any mistakes and also add/ change bits to make the whole story flow better.
Hope that helps.

what is meant by italic writing in english language? We Answered:
It shows that you want to put extra emphasis on those words to stress their importance or the emotion you are trying to convey. It is also used when you are writing the title of a book, movie or article.
