The style of writing, including grammar and punctuation, can be used to help convey these meanings. Therefore, ultimately what is important is the author's vision and what he/she feels is necessary to express it.

-read books in english, underline words you dont know and look the up in dictionary

-watch dvds in english, subtitles might be very helping, when you find a nice phrase/sentence pause the dvd, write it down and pronounce it comparing with original pronounciation

-listen to english, buy some cds with excersises or watch english channels like bbc and cnn

-try to think in english, therefor you will need to construct full sentences often and get used to it

-make model tests so you know which tasks to expect and can do them without wasting time on understanding the task itself
