Write English Literature Essay

Esther Said:

What is the best wasy to write a comparison and contrast essay in english literature?

We Answered:

Identify the two works you are comapring and contrasting, write an introduction to what you are writing about. Write one paragrpah about the comparisions, one about the contrasts, and an ending. Or you can maximize the paragraphs to be longer depending on how long the essay needs to be.

Corey Said:

how do i write an essay for GCSE english literature exam please help its 2morow!!!?

We Answered:

Im having trouble with that too, and not because i havent had lots of practise its just because its so different from the english language which i found so much easier, we have only had a few months to work on the lit course because we spent the past year and a bit working on language.

Depending on the question i would first repeat the question in my own words refering to the texts giving a brief summary of each, then i would comment on the characters and relationships, themes, structure and language, i would also comment on any symbols used.

Then i would conclude answering the question with what i had discussed i would then add personal opinions.

Use the PEE method throughout, Point, Evidence and Explanation. Comment on similes, metaphors etc.

Hope this has helped.
Good Luck for tomorrow.

English literature AS comparative essay.. how do you write one?

We Answered:

I have read neither Emma nor Pride and Prejudice. However, if I were to write a comparative essay, I would first explain what the purpose of the essay is. Then I would give a short and very quick summary of the two books. (I've no idea how long your essay is, so assuming it's not too long, a one paragragh summary of each would suffice).

Then I would decide what points i would like to make, and working on a point by point basis would explain how Emma does one thing, and how Pride and prejudice differs (or does the same).

At the end I would re-iterate all the points i'd previously made in a summary, and wrap it all up by saying how well they compare, how similar or different they are.
