Teach English Writing

Lester Said:

Fun ideas to teach written English?

We Answered:

A lot depends on their current level. I found that "repetition" is the the key...

Have you tried using either spelling wise or phonetically similar words placed side by side with simple vocabulary phrase or sentence next to each?

Divide the class into two sections with each student taking one word. They are to write down by properly spellinng the word and the correct meaning without using the dictionary.

Later, each person is to present his/her choice by properly pronouncing the word and giving it's meaning. If questioned by others that person should explain as best as he/she could using other words.

Then they are all to "correct" if necessary, by checking in the dictionary on their own.

After everyone completes that process, ALL the words and the correct meaning can be discussed and placed on a chart from which each student is to "copy" on to their own workbook (like a bound black marble writing pad). That can become their own working dictionary.

In that way you get the student to not only know the spelling, the pronunciation, the meaning and the usage, but also be able to check their handwriting. It takes into account ALL sensual learning avenues, so retention should be better.

None of the students should fall aspleep if a variety of "interesting" words are selected in the beginning... That part, you can discuss with the students to get their ownership and participation so they "will"do the work diligently.

could you teach me English (writing)?

We Answered:

Architects have three essential characteristics which make them outstanding people. Firstly, architects usually have great artistic talent. For example, Lee, Taipei 101's designer, would combine Taiwanese culture and Chinese traditional Feng-Shui to showcase his artistic flair in his creations. His buildings can be a sensuous delight for people.

Secondly, architects must be able to communicate well and effectively because they are interested in problem-solving and have their own ideas. For instance, when customers want to change the design plans, the architects have to be able to communicate carefully with them and explain the design concept in a simple and clear manner. Good communication skills are important for this job.

Thirdly, architects should be considerate. They must always think of other people's wishes and feelings. For example, when architects build schools, they have to consider what is important for the students. They must be able to design centres which encourage children's independence.

In conclusion, an excellent architect is artistic, an excellent communicator and considerate.
