Notice Writing In English

Eugene Said:

Why are so many public notices written in english and spanish in USA these days?

We Answered:

Because so many of the Hispanic population can not speak English. As a country we are catering to the Hispanics so they will buy a certain product and vote democratically. The other immigrants from other countries know that to be viable citizens you must speak English. We have made it very easy for the Hispanics not to speak English.~

Marsha Said:

How do I improve my writing for writing books?

We Answered:

Just keep practicing first of all. Don't stress on vocabulary or "big words" in your writing as it can come off contrived and fake if used incorrectly or too often.

Read various magazines such as the Writer's Digest for tips on writing or look into books that help you harness those ideas. I've heard Stephen King's "On Writing" is fantastic.

Silence your self-editor and just write. The more you allow your inner editor to control you, the harder writing is. Just shut it up and get to work.

Good luck!

Do you think that proper use of English is important?

We Answered:

I, for one, am a stickler for such things as well. I take it that you are from the UK since you made a reference about the BBC website. I, myself, am from the US. Though there are differences in most of our word usage, proper English is still proper English. In the US, we tend to slack on our grammar. It's quite a saddening sight. I've become quite bothered by the lack of care and attention that folks apply to such things.

Yes, proper English is important. I can understand the use of slang and other fashions of the youth, but to give up on learning and teaching the language in it's true form is leaving generations to become bumbling fools that believe this to be true. In a sense, it's like teaching children to walk like crabs and never showing them how to do so upright.

Also, it's particularly not particulary.
