Learning Writing English

Laurie Said:

I started learning English two years ago, but still has a problem with writing?

We Answered:

I started learning English two years ago, but I still have a problem expressing my thoughts in writing.

I feel that every sentEnce is wrong when I write an email, a letter or when I post a question here in Yahoo! Answers. I just feel my writing is so incoherent, that the person reading it is not going to understand anything!

I missuse punctuation marks and everything comes out wrong when I write in English. You probably noticed it just by reading my question.
How can I improve my English without taking any classes?

Allison Said:

I am a student learning English. Would you check my English writing?

We Answered:

Sometimes I have to disguise my real feelings, and I feel like it is hypocritical, but in the modern society it would be considered as a form of manner.
Every now and then I am confused which is manner and which is not.
A few days ago, my friend "NAME", asked "Girl's name here" to have lunch/dinner with her and he/she agreed to.
Later, I heard my friend talking behind her back saying "I just asked her out of courtesy, but she accepted it without recognizing it. How could she be dull?"
What's surprising is that other girls agreed with my friend's opinion that the girl who was willing to accept my friend's treat was someone to be blamed.
I was shocked because I ask others only when I really want to share my food. If I want to eat it all by myself, I don't ask. Plus, I've believed that people want to share food when they ask me to do even though in most cases I rejected it expressing the gratitude.

Great start. Other mistakes might still be there but if I change everything it's going to discourage you to continue with your diary exercises. Keep up the good work.

I'm learning English could please read this little article and say how it my English writing?

We Answered:

well that was really good, but watch your run on sentences. You'r grammar is okay. The thing is you can't really compare it to a grade since your vocabulary and comprehension seems to be higher maybe 3rd grade, yout grammar is still that of maybe a 1st grader. this is how i would write it.

Hi,
I'm 20 years old and am always trying to learn English. I know a little bit of English, but my pronunciation isn't very good. I started learning English 8 months ago because one time i woke up and I didn't know English. It was terrible because I felt that others knew English very well. It is something rare that happened to me becuase I don't understand English on the T.V. but I understand it when I talk face-to-face with people. I think that maybe I don't understand is becuase...presion isn't a word, so this whole sentence doesn't make any sense...By the way, I have so many stories about me learning English. I hope someday, I can speak, read, write and understand English. Thank you for all the people who gave an opinion in this article. Please be honest, and when you see a mistake, correct it. Thanks.

Overall great job!!! You say you have only been learning it for 8 months? If thats true you are doing an amazing job at it! All I can say is, use periods instead of commas. You really shouldn't have more than two commas in one sentence, unless your listing things. Also your tenses, like past, present and future. Those were kinda mixed and mingled within, but that is very hard to do! Also just grammar overall. There were many, many, little, tiny mistakes and errors, but that's totally understandable since English is so weird in that aspect. Haha. Other than that great, and good job!! Keep up the hard work! I know how hard it is to learn a new language...I'm trying to learn Spanish. Just a question for you, what is your native language?

You'll find free English text chat rooms that you can join. You wont need to register and you wont need to download any software, just choose a nickname and enter the room. I've used them a few times and I find the people there to be nice.

Those chatrooms are very simple to use I'm sure you'll enjoy chatting there and that you'll make some good english speaking friends to help you practice with your English.

Have fun.
