We Answered:

I don't know what four fundamentals there are.....

Kay Said:

What skills do you consider the most difficult skill in learning English? state the reason.?

We Answered:

Pronunciation.
Live -- is pronounced two different ways depending on how it is used. "I live in New York" and 'Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

Choosing the right form of the word you have heard spoken.
Your and You're
Your home is in New York (your means 'belonging to you')
You're going home. (You're is 'you are')

There, Their
There are cookies on the plate. (Where? There!)
Their car is in the shop. (Who's car? Their car, belonging to them.)

Understanding the written word compared to the spoken word is difficult, spelling is crazy, and abbreviations in text messages are awful. Young people who use the abbreviations never really learn which is the proper form of the word. 'Ur dad is mad at U' Truly awful.

Jon Said:

Have you and advice on learning more English Language skills, intensively?

We Answered:

Teaching Tenses by Rosemary Aitken is very good for brushing up on grammar. I bought it myself when I did the CELTA course and I still dip into it frequently when preparing lessons.

"Learning Teaching" by Jim Scrivener and "The Practice of English Language Teaching by Jeremy Harmer" are both books that are probably on your reading list for the course, anyway; reading them beforehand will give you a broader idea of what you are getting into.

Doing some of the quizzes and tests on the BBC Skillswise site might give you a clearer idea of the grammar areas you need to focus on.

hope this helps, and good luck!

Ethel Said:

How would I apply the skills I've learnt in English class to daily life?

We Answered:

Public speaking.
Organization skills, like an essay is organized.
Grammar and knowing how to speak well.
Writing letters.
Learning about culture.

Cory Said:

is there any skills for learning english language?

We Answered:

English spelling can be very difficult to learn because it is not very regular. It doesn't follow logic! There are a number of games you can play to increase your ability, such as at this website:

You are already starting on the right track by communicating through this forum! As long as you keep communicating with English-speaking people -- that is the biggest skill to learn of all! Just keep doing it! (Well done, you!)
