Learn English Lessons

Don Said:

Should the English batsmen learn some batting lessons from Tom de Grooth?

We Answered:

England should learn from the attitude of Tom De Grooth not neccessarily his batting skills.

Wright and Bopara had the right attitude and both of these players can't be faulted. So there's no blame there. 100-0 off 11 is a great start and should have been enough.

However the middle order needs to learn something, De Grooth played without fear and that's why he played the match-winnning knock. England can't play without fear, none of the middle order batsmen just went out there and smashed it. England had 10 wickets to play with with 10 overs left and we batted right down to Broad at 9. So why didn't the middle order just hit and hope? Even if all the middle order made brief cameos of 10, England would still have made 180-200.

Instead Shah, Morgan and Collingwood get themselves in and then play frankly stupid shots.

Collingwood's shot was the worst, if he tried to hit the 6 instead of chipping it he would have got 6 instead of being caught at long-on.

Absolutely disgraceful performance, but well done to Netherlands. I respect the way they played.

Q2- No doubt about it. KP would have taken the game away from the Dutch.

And Freddie's overs wouldn't have gone for less than 28. (Added with Anderson and Sidebottom's that would have equalled 76 from 12 overs)

How do other countries learn English?

We Answered:

Just like French is a foreign language to you, English is to us, and thus we learn it the same way.
I'm German and our German lessons are like your English and our English are like your German. Ha.

Bryan Said:

From what group of people did the english learn important lessons and establish valuable precedent that they..?

We Answered:

And the French. Both the Spanish and French colonists intermarried with native peoples, treating them as almost-equal trading partners. However, the British didn't have much contact with Spanish colonies. It would have been primarily the French that influenced policy.

From the French, they learned the value of Native American war alliances, though they had kind-of known this value since the landing at Plymouth.
But consider the French and Indian War. Guess where it's name comes from. During the War of 1812, the British military made numerous alliances with various northern tribes, much to the sorrow of these peoples after the war.
