Darlene Said:

How do you improve your English proficiency?

We Answered:

Go to an english speaking country, I think that being immersed in the language is the best way to learn it...
I'm french by the way, living, sadly, in the US... Not that I don't like it, but I miss my country. No offense to americans what-so-ever.

How can you improve your english proficiency?

We Answered:

Societal immersion is the best way to learn and improve your skills in any language. Failing that, just practice it as often as you can. Read everything you can get your hands on. Especially published works, since they will be freer of spelling/grammatical/usage errors (as opposed to amateur works like what is often found on the web).

To be honest though, from the small sample of English used in your question, you already seem pretty proficient to me.

How do you improve your english?

We Answered:

1. By traditional studying (memorizing vocabulary, reading, writing stuff)

2. By watching English TV shows, dramas and movies

3. By dating a native English speaker (This helps a lot!)

What is a great way to improve your english?

I helped a student to expand her vocabulary by using the SAT practice books that can be gotten at a book store. There are also what is called 'handbooks' for English usage that your teacher should know about and that maybe you had and didn't use. They tell you when to use commas, and what a run on sentence is and stuff. You might want to do a few practice essays for extra credit and get constructive suggestions from this teacher, if the teacher agrees.

Looking at the paragraph you wrote for your question, I see that you said 'tell me that my essay were poorly written'.... you used a singular 'essay' with a plural 'were'... and it should be 'my essays were poorly written'. This may reflect conversational English but not formal English, and may not matter when you talk to friends, but does matter when you do a paper. You didn't make a space between "appreciate them.I will.." and again, that may seem like a trivial detail , but for a formal school paper it does count. The sentence, "I will take anything if even if its the hardest way." has a few mistakes... it looks like the extra 'if' is just a typo, but you have to proofread your essays to catch and correct them. proofread means to read them after you write them to catch things anda correct them before you turn them in. See? I did a typo too,, and just left it to show you, but if it was a formal paper I'd have to correct it or lose a point. The phrase "even if it is the hardest way" is not the best way to say this, and looks like English might not be your primary language, or that the English used in your daily life is very simple.

I really admire you, and have to give you credit for your desire to improve and to advance in your education. I am a tutor who does one-on-one with people to improve their English and reading skills. Public high schools don't always offer the resources and skill levels necessary either, which was why I haad to help the girl I mentioned. The SAT practice book is excellent at supplying the more ad anced material that you are looking for, and you can ask your teacher or guidance counselor, explaining to them what you told us,,, that you want to advance and ask for their help and suggestions,,, and maybe a tutor like me.
