"I was surprised that the current climatic warming is occurring much more rapidly than past warming events. When I participated in THE 2004 Green Summer Camp, which WAS held by THE Tzu Chi foundation, Tt made me understand that THE 3Rs (recycling, reducing and reusing) are easy and practical ways to protect the surroundings and preserve natural resources. Before I attended this camp, I have never concerned about how global warming seriously affects our environment, such as increased droughts and decreased rainfall. After that, I realised that I can take some action such as bringing my own eco-bags, reducing THE AMOUNT OF BOTTLED MINERAL WATER THAT I PURCHASE and using my chopsticks instead of disposable goods in order to counteract global warming. Once, I went to A supermarket,AND I found that I forgot to bring my shopping bags while I was paying THE bill. I hesitated AS TO whether I should use THE supplied plastic bags or purchase another new eco-bag. However, I decided to buy a new one because I think that single-use plastic bags are bad for the earth. I was quite delighted that I made this decision and adopted BEING green in my life. Based on the aspect of global citizenship ( Tzu Chi 2006), we have to take responsibilities for the sustainable development of the world. I will definitely do MY duty AS a global citizen and encourage my friends to BECOME AWARE of environmental issues, and adopt a greener lifestyle."
