Don't worry, you'll be just fine and before you know it you'll be speaking fluent english.

You probably won't be able to learn to speak fluently in a "short time", English is complex (just like any other language). However, you can probably improve by:
-Talking to native or fluent English speakers
-checking out some easy reading english books (picture or chapter books) from a local library or bookstore, and trying to read and understand them
-studying!

It's because Montreal is one of the most bilingual cities in the world. I was born and have always lived in Montreal. My parents were both English, and I grew up going to fully bilingual school, where I learned French.
Venture outside of Montreal, and you will find plenty of people who speak only French, and there are also certain pockets of Montreal where people only speak English.
Montrealers need to be bilingual, because it's a requirement of doing any kind of business in this city. There are certainly some people much more bilingual than others, but in general everyone here is bilingual.
If you can't speak English, then you won't be able to communicate with tourists, even other Canadians, and you won't be able to communicate with English Quebecers.
If you speak only English, you simply can't get a job. No one will take you.

everybody is different if your good with languages then maby a year or two but if not then English is very difficult to learn and i know people that live in the u.s.a. for 10-20 years and still have vocabulary mistakes so you can never know but in high school it is much easier to learn so you have a chance to learn quickly
