There are many English 'Grammar Checker' programs to check your grammar is good. They are better than the grammar-checker in Microsoft Word. They give more information and help about what is wrong with a sentence. I have used one when writing Spanish.

If you use an English 'Colloquialism' (an expression that doesn't translate directly or is not used in formal English, such as 'gonna' instead of 'going to'), you can check on various websites whether it is a US Colloquialism, British Colloquialism, Australian Colloquialism, etc. We don't all use the same ones. The same applies to 'slang' and 'jargon' words.

Its a good idea to avoid slang and jargon. Colloquialisms are okay, such as 'What are you up to?' (a normal action or something bad), meaning 'What are you doing?'. We use these sayings all the time. These phrases don't translate directly into a foreign language and are only understood among people of one country or people who speak English as a first language. The meaning has to be remembered. The meaning isn't in the words that are spoken.
