Can you explain this english writing topic to me?We Answered:
What the question says in a bunch of fifty cent college words is how important is an unbiased media in relation to a fair debate from the rest of the population. Media Bias affects what others think about issues is what it boils down to so how important is it to keep bias out of the Media and in turn give the public a fair shake of the actual news and not what others in the media "think" about the news. Objective National Media : As opposed to Subjective or "opinionated."
Integrity of the American Public Forum: That'd be us who can be swayed by opinionated or biased reporting in the news.
I'll give you an example and not sure which way you lean politically but this one is actually a good one for this purpose. Remember the shooting in Arizona that killed a few folks including a 9 year old and Congress woman Gifford? Well when I first heard that I just thought wow another nutjob with a gun and how sad that is. Now within hours, the "left" or the extreme left started spouting off stories that this was caused by the Republicans and Sarah Palin and the Rhetoric and Vitriol that all those crazy Republicans spout off all day and that is why Gifford, A Democrat was gunned down. Now even the first story I read that was saying that made me go Huh?? How do you know that? Well it turns out this guy that did this had no political leaning or affiliation he was just plain Nuts. So was that initial reporting "Objective National Media" ? No. Did it affect the integrity of the American public forum, yes, because right after the first shot like that every left leaning news organization and newspaper jumped on that band wagon and everyone else that believes every speck of diarrhea that comes out of those folks mouth believed it to be true as well and not even bothering to ask if that was really the case.
Here's some other examples: 9/11 was an "inside job" I think that is just nuts but people believe that nonsense. Nancy Pelosi, "every dollar spent on welfare equals a dollar and seventy five cents in economic stimulus" You can figure that one out because I cant but many folks who believe Pelosi is some kind of God takes her word for it. The latest was (sorry but I can't remember the name of the rag at the moment) but an "unnamed" "unidentified" "source" at Fox news states that Fox "makes up" news stories and tells lies. Just a real fast trigger for the smell of bias when "sources" are suddenly "unnamed" and "unidentified" and people just report stuff that supports their own agenda or bias.
Ok hope you get the idea of what the statement is supposed to mean and yes I am a conservative independent and don't really need left wing libs to lead me around by the nose so yes many of my comments as examples lean that way. But try this. You are standing outside and you see a power pole transformer overheat and blow over causing the power to go out in your neighborhood. Now most reporters would be on the news stating, yes, today there was a power surge at the local power plant and the transformers could not shut down fast enough to keep the one pole transformers from overheating and blowing over causing the power outage. Now if you were a biased reporter you might say something like this, The Democrats blew up an electric pole today because they couldn't raise taxes high enough or The Republican party, knowing full well aliens live among us allowed them to blow up a power pole transformer but refuse to comment on why :)
Objective reporting, yep, power surge, thing blew up, screwing with the integrity of what people say about events based on how they are reported (Integrity of the public forum) well you either going to talk about power surges and gee I didn't know that actually happened or if only the Democrats could raise taxes they wouldn't have blown up my neighbor hood power pole or if only those dang Republicans would just come clean with the alien thing. Spin, that's all it is and how that spin affects how people react to events based on how they are reported, factual and to the point or with their own biased subjective point of view thrown in.
Hope it helps.
