English Second Language

Darryl Said:

Can I get a financial aid or student loan for English Second Language Course?

We Answered:

Student loans are meant to help students who are unable to bear their educational expenses. Student loans are different in different countries in the way they are devised, but then the common types of student loans available are the undergraduate loans, college student loans, private student loans and federal family educational loans.

Student loan repayments are not made until the student completes his graduation. This facility helps him to concentrate on his studies and earn some little amount of money while he is studying, but repayment has to start once he finishes his education.

Ralph Said:

Is English your second language? If so, could you answer these questions for me, PLEASE?

We Answered:

My first language is Finnish and Swedish.

What has helped you most in learning English?
Going to an International School where the education was in English really helped me to get on track. I had several American friends and really professional teachers who helped me with learning :)

How old were you when you first started learning English? Do you believe your age hindered or enhanced your ability to learn this second language?
I was probably around 7 or 8 when I went to a conference with my parents and the childcare was in English and I started picking it up really quickly. I think my young age really enhanced my ability to learn English since a younger brain can learn so fast, it's unbelievable!

What can teachers do to help the English language learner more?
Help with pronunciation, because that's what was the hardest in the beginning, as well as spelling. I think teachers need to take it slowly and review a lot, because it's important to understand the grammar and not just memorize everything.

What do you wish the teacher would not do?
I wish they wouldn't assume that I am American/British and that I know everything about their culture. Even though I look like I could be American, I can find it quite hard relating to Americans and their culture.

What advice would you give to other English language learners?
It's important to take it slowly and learn pronunciation, because there's no use of your english skills if you can't actually make conversation and speak with people. Also study the English vocabulary well and I would advise them to carry a dictionary around so they can look up new words when they need to. :)

Why are English language songs hard to understand for second language English speakers?

We Answered:

it is new to them and might have slang..

Bonnie Said:

in what do you think to have the english like second language benefit our economy?

We Answered:

English is a universal language.English is already widely spoken and well accepted as a Language in most parts of India.
Declaring it as a second language and officially assigning it the status, may call for some oppostition from certain sections of people.
Instead of stessing on making it officially the second language, the present scenario of the language being voluntarily accepted and spoken should go well with the public.
