What are some other jobs I could have with a degree in Enligsh Literature/creative writing? We Answered:
You can teach; most people with a creative writing degree go into teaching. But, to teach at most universities and public schools, you'll need a master's degree in creative writing. Journalism and creative writing is different. If you want to be a journalist, you'll should take up journalism. Check into internships at publishing houses and literary agencies. This will get your foot in the door for working in that field and working with manuscripts. The competition is fierce, but you might be one of the lucky ones. One thing to start doing now. If you write short stories, start sending them off to paying mags. If you can get some work published in legit, paying mags then you're already on your way to being a published author. Those types of mags don't accept just anything and the writing needs to be excellent (I've read them and the writing is top-notch and very professional). Again, there's a lot of competition, but if you're good at writing, you'll eventually make it. You can use it as publishing credits. They don't get your novel published, but you'll get your work taken seriously, and if an editor is on the cusp about whether to reject or take another look at your work, your credits will sway him/her to take another look.
duotrope.com has a list of mags. Consider only those that pay.
ADDING: I just noticed, from your other posts, that you're still in high school. When you get in college, and even now, you can start writing short stories to try to get your feet wet. It also improves your writing.
