Importance of context, location, weather, light etc.to the story
Characterisation, simple, complex, varied?
Emotional tone: deadpan, excited, engaged, antagonistic etc?
Narrative, chronological, flash-back, recalls etc.
Use of colour, sound, texture etc
Realtionship of style to content, dignified, resounding, vernacular, demotic etc.

Get the idea?
Then go on to the story itself.
