Different Writing Styles In English
Emma Said:
can anyone give me some names of authors w/a distinct, different writing style? We Answered:
Anne Rice wrote Interview with a Vampire where the majority of the book is diaglogue of the Vampire telling his story. That is a very distinct writing style.Terry Pratchett writes all of his adult novels (The Discworld Series) without chapters. He says that chapters are for children and parents.
Jeremy Clarkson writes books on pretty much his opinions. In that respect they don't follow a plot or an order really. They are very un pc as well.
Rupert the Bear by Mary Tourtel was written in complete rhyme. Each paragraph was four lines long and written in an ABAB format. This is more of a children's book but it's still an unusual writing style.
Hope this helps you!

I hate to request this, but please humor me, and provide two examples to support your observation(an olde testament verse/old English, and a new testament verse/not in olde English.Seriously, I'm not just wasting time, I want to see examples of your point, so I can answer intelligently.

What are Virginia Woolf's writing styles? We Answered:
Virginia Woolf is a writer whom doesn't waste time with a lengthy introduction: she goes straight to the point in few sentences. Her style is very informal, which is very pleasant for the reader. She switches off between using the pronouns "we" and "you," making the reader feel included, which makes the reader pay more attention to her context. Virginia also uses commands, "Do not dictate to your author; try to become him. Be his fellow-worker and accomplice." Her use of commands contribute to her informal style, proving that she does not try to "sugar coat," but instead get straight to the point. Virginia's syntax consists of long, complex sentences separated by hyphens or commas. She uses allusions to Defoe, Jane Austen, and Thomas Hardy multiple times to support what she is saying. Finally, Virginia also uses metaphors in her writing: "The thirty-two chapters of a novel--if we consider how to read a novel first--are an attempt to make something as formed and controlled as a building." In this quote, Virginia compares the chapters of a novel to a buildingÑboth needing to be solid and concrete, never changing and without question. Overall, Virginia Woolf is a talented author that included many literary devices in her writing.http://www.rutgersprep.org/~kendall/ap/a…

Her writings consist of an experimental style of modernistic writings known as stream-of-consciousness. Virginia Woolf is an influential author because of her unique style, incorporations of symbolism and use of similes and metaphors in her literature, specifically in Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, and The Waves.

Do you think written English has changed much in the last 100 years? We Answered:
I think it has changed much even in a time span of fifty years. The older more formal English did have a lot more going for it.
However, with the arrival of near universal literacy, the spoken language has deteriorated to being a sort of proletariat pidgin
dialect.

How should I give my work to my writing group? We Answered:
I think you answered at least one of your questions :-) Give them what you're currently working on. If I was in your group and you gave me the other project, I'd be annoyed to learn you weren't planning on doing anything with my comments any time soon.I'd distribute print-outs (or email - trees are lovely things!) beforehand. Asking you to read the work aloud seems like a waste of time that the other members could spend discussing the work and giving you feedback. Hearing work read aloud is subjectively different from reading it on the page, and the other members might get a very different impression of your work that way. Someone who's a great writer doesn't necessarily have a good speaking voice, and might be nervous about speaking in front of a group, even though they know exactly what to say and the people are all (presumably!) friendly.
