Cursive Writing In English

Always cursive. Writing in print may be used as a decorative element (or just for fun).
Russian children are taught to write in cursive from the very beginning. Therefore inability to write in cursive would mean you've never attended school. And it's not only a tradition, Russian has long words and writing in print takes much longer. With proper schooling cyrillic cursive is very comprehensible.

Russian children use special training book called "???????" (I've googled it and have seen a lot of samples to download). You might be interested in using one of those. :)

Either way, if you're a foreigner trying to learn Russian it's not the main thing to worry about. I know several people learning Russian at the university (intermediate level), and they all still write in print.
