Writing A Nursing Resume

Carmen Said:

Writing a resume for a nanny job. . . HELP!?

We Answered:

We have a nanny now and two things sold us on her. First, references were huge - people who were enthusiastic made us feel the same way. Second, the fact that she was going to school was also important - our money was going to her improving herself.

Letters along with references from previous people were big as well.

Nicholas Said:

Can I use a nursing resume for dental assistant job?

We Answered:

only use your resume. the info shouldn't change just because you apply for a different job. take a dose of self confidence before your interview.

Kirk Said:

what to write as a objective on a nursing resume?

We Answered:

I hate objectives! Sometimes you can get away with erasing it altogether. Change the details so they apply to you.

To transfer 4 years of nursing school education and 3 years of customer service experience into a career specializing in respiratory care with opportunity for advancement.

Pamela Said:

How do i write a resume that shows ive been working in retail but will be going to school for nursing?

We Answered:

Very briefly describe your responsibilities before going into your achievements.

You should highlight things you have done that made a difference. Try to think back -- remember any assignment you did really well at? Maybe you were repeatedly praised by customers for your service?

Besides, if you're going in a different career path, it might be best to write a resume that focuses more on your relevant skills, as opposed to one with a chronological format.

Retail at pharmacy and nursing do share the need of similar qualities, which you should bring up too. Important thing is relevance. You could mention how your experience has familiarised you with medications and drugs, how you have some understanding of certain health issues. You could also mention how interacting with customers in need of medication gives you the bed-side manner nurses should have?

Be sure to mention your personal traits too -- traits that you would want a nurse to have -- that you can honestly tell others you have, that is.

Don't lie on your resume, but you don't have to shine a light on irrelevant issues or things you hope the reader won't question in detail on. Emphasise the good and the relevant!

Hope that answers your question. If you still have resume-related questions, or you would like some help with writing your resume, I'd be happy to do just that. Send me an email at wongwords@gmail.com and I'll do my best to help you.

Good luck!
