Katrina Said:

How to write a good resume to impress a ppotential employer any key phrases or starting lines?

We Answered:

basics! ppotential!! ;)
anyway!

Keep it to 1 page if possible (if it's a larger company they will recieve thousands of applicants!)

keep it concise, ie pick out the key things they are looking for from the advertisement, and put those abilities within your cv (don't lie, just doctor it a little!)

after you've laid out your skills, mention qualifications, these are (depending on the key points) usually worth less than experience (just make sure that your education matches their expectations!)

pick your best refs (even if it's from your 1st job!!)

if doing the cv on a pc, write (even if your handwritings not the best) a covering letter, it can help as the employer can see a lot from this!

g'luck

Martha Said:

Does anyone know how to write a good resume and what should be on it?

We Answered:

Yes. But you should custom tailor your resume to each job you apply for. There is no such thing as an all-purpose resume. My advice would be to go to a professional to get the basic one, and ask for advice on re-adapting it over and over. You should take into account the job description that is posted or advertised, and keep it to one page.

how do i write a good resume for a teller position at commerce with no work experience? i'm only almost 18.

We Answered:

Well Miss Anonymis....

Since it sounds like you don't have any practical work experience, you will want to write a SKILLS based resume, rather than one based on your Work History.

Here is a brief outline for you to work with:

Objective: (What kind of position are you looking for? Be specific. For example:
To obtain an entry level position with NAME OF BANK as a bank teller, where I can apply my excellent customer service skills.

Skills:
What skills you DO possess that might be useful or necessary in a bank teller position? Can you count money? Are you good at working with diverse types of people? How do you perform under stress? Your skills might include:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient at handling money
• Able to function at a high level in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent at working with diverse groups of people
• Amiable team player
• A fast learner with a positive can-do attitude

Education:
Where did you attend school? Have you graduated? This might look like this:

Name of School, City, State
Year of Graduation
G.P.A.

If you graduated with any special honors, say so. Also, list any relevant courses that might have prepared you for this job: For instance:

Related Courses:
• Business Management
• Accounting I & II
• Word Processing
• Business Law

You may also want to list any things you did after school. This will indicate that you are a team player, and that you possess strong social skills and like to work with others.
For example:

Extra Curricular Activities:
Secretary, National Honor Society
Parliamentarian, Student Council
Girls Track
Girls Basketball
Member, National Honor Society

Do you have anyone who can speak to your work ethic or to your work in class or to your overall character? These should be adults. You list them here, make sure you have their permission first. You don't want them to be surprised by a phone call. This will give them a chance to think of something good to say on your behalf. Here are some examples:

References:
Mr. Homer Simpson, History Instructor, Kennedy High School. 000-000-0000 (phone number)

Reverend Robert Holmes, First Baptist Church
000-000-0000

Miss Jackie Evans, Girls Basketball Coach, Kennedy High School. 000-000-0000

Don't feel like you have to list hobbies and the like. Unless you've climbed Mt. Everest or something, it probably won't land you a job. :-)

Good luck, Miss Anonymis.

how do you write a good resume for an arts school? best answer will have 10 stars?

We Answered:

Showcase your successes, accomplishments and skills, you need to create immediate impact. Your personal statement is your one chance to market yourself effectively. Writing a good personal statement is more than just correct spelling or an excellent portfolio; it is about what you say and how you say it. Poorly structured statements that do not give clear reasons as to why you want to study will get you about as far as your university/high-school grant.

How can I write a good resume, if I never had a decent job?

We Answered:

Your previous experience doesn't have to be in the field you are seeking, just put your history, wages, references, education and anything that would show your knowledge of the position, even volunteering is helpful, if you have references.

How can I write a good resume for a fastfood restaurant with no experience?

We Answered:

Go to the establishment, get aqn application form and fill it out.

Working in a fast food restaurant is a job, not a career. Most people work there for a little while and move on.

Discuss It!
