How To Write A Great Resume

Allen Said:

how to write a great resume at no cost?

We Answered:

If you google acting resume you will see the correct format. try printing your resume off onto a thicker, off white paper, this will make it stand out from the rest when you send it to agents/casting directors.

I'm Seventeen - have had little retail experience - how can I write a GREAT resume?

We Answered:

You are right. Be truthful in making your statements. You are in high school and are not expected to have a lot of experience. Emphasize the skills you learned from any previous job or internship. If you want a job outside food-service, better skip your food service experience and start out fresh. Your grades should also help since you are starting out of school.

Aren't you going to college? A college degree is the best thing you can do to your resume. It will open many doors for you. Good Luck.

I have been looking for a job since June, 2009 - Is my resume the problem?

We Answered:

I would suggest going to a career center. Your (or the local) college or university career center probably offers free workshops and you can make an appointment with a career counselor to fine tune your resume and cover letter. They also have lots of free resources to help you out too. I went to some free workshops offered by my university and they gave me lots of great tips to help my resume, cover letter, interview skills, and how to find job openings. Even just checking out a few university career center websites might help (see my attached link).

Your resume may not be the problem...only a potion of jobs are posted externally and even then, they often already have someone in mind. Find ways to put yourself out there and find opportunities others are missing.
