How To Write A Great Cover Letter

Teresa Said:

how to write a cover letter for a student summer job with the government?

We Answered:

Cover letter? A cover letter is not usually required or desired, but there is definitely an application process, and you should start watching for openings soon.

Here is the link that tells you how to apply for summer jobs with the federal government:
http://www.usajobs.gov/EI/summeremployme…

To search for jobs, go to www.usajobs.gov. Since many of the jobs aren't posted for more than a few days, you need to take a few minutes every night to check for new ones. Just type "summer position" in the key word field and your city in the location field. With no college and no job experience, you will not qualify for more than GS-2, so refine your search by going to the right side and clicking on Grades - Multiple grades - GS-1, GS-2, and if you have 6 months of experience doing office or clerical work, you might qualify for GS-3.

How do I write an outstanding cover letter?

We Answered:

Try something like You are a highly motivated self starter. You are looking for employment with a company where your ability to adapt and your present skills will be an asset to the company. Also mention that you are seeking a position with an established company where future advancement is a possibility. Mention also that you are highly adaptable and a quick learner who is ready and willing to expand your knowledge. All of these things tell a future employer that you are ambitious and are willing to learn and better yourself. All the things a company is looking for in a future employee. Good luck to you.

Cover letter to photography gallery internship- What to say to better my chances?

We Answered:

Tim made some good points. The other thing I would suggest is doing a spelling/grammar/punctuation check and then having a third party re-read it. Don't use slang speech either. I will not hold an interview with a potential new hire if they can not properly fill out an application.
