Been there, done that... too many times! Let me recommend a book that I think makes it really clear and produces a GREAT resume, no matter what your field or situation. It's called "Resume Magic", and it's pretty popular for what it is. You should be able to find it at your local library, and certainly the major book sellers will have it or can get it.

Do realize, though - this takes WORK! You can slap together a resume just by using Monster's resume help tool or similar, but to really think through what's best to put on paper, you're going to need to do the work.

Don't worry though - I think the book has a section at the front with a title like "But I need a resume tomorrow!" or some such... the book will help you so you can apply for these jobs - but then make sure you go back and make a real resume afterward.

What I like about "Resume Magic" is that it's not *stupid* work - none of the "remember what you wanted to be when you were a kid" or "think of five things you do really really well". It's all about the RESUME, but it takes you through all the decisions you have to make, section by section, and (I think) makes it sort of fun. It has TONS of examples, not just of resumes but of particular ways to phrase things and of layout options, fonts, everything that anyone will see on your resume.

Anyway, I think you can tell that I really do recommend it.

With all due respect and seriously, if you use the excuse of no license as the reason for your unemployment for two years, you will need the writing talents of Shakespeare to justify this lapse of employment.
Best if you just list your qualifications and any training or experience you may have for a specific job that you apply for.

Below are some good sites for some examples. MS Word has templates, you can buy a program like Winway or resume writer for about $40 or for free you can go to your local career center (unemployment office) and they have programs and people who can assist you.
