Good Resume Tips

Charlene Said:

How to write a good resume? Tips? Advice?

We Answered:

I have recently graduated and I had to do a resume for a requirement. The categories that I put in was

Objective: Tell them what your purpose is for that job. My objective for this job (name of job) is to be committed to my work and to do the best to my abilty. Something along those lines.

Education: Where did you graduate from and specialized courses.

Experience: where else have you worked. It would be good if you added something related to the field of the job.

Skills: Experienced with Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point. Leader skills, Works in groups well. Communication skills.

Activities or interests: What are your current activites

Three references: People that aren't related to you.

At the Top:
Your name
Address
Phone number
Email address

Keep it simple. The nicer it looks the better chance yours will get picked. Make them want to read it. Have a great objective sentence. I hope this help and good luck.

graduating from college and need good resume tips, got any?

We Answered:

The best advice I ever got on writing my resume was to keep it short and make sure it's easy to read.

If you picture the person who will be hiring you sitting at their desk and having to sift through a stack of resumes, you can imagine why they wouldn't want to read five pages crammed with info on each candidate. They want to be able to take one quick glance and get a basic sense of your qualifications.

Keep it to one page. And not one page crammed with stuff. Make sure there's a lot of white, empty space on the page so it will look easy to read.

Focus on the volunteer work you've done (listing responsibilities) because that seems to be in the same field and will definitely give you a big edge over people who have never worked in a hospital.

For the waitress/bartending jobs, keep it short but mention any special responsibilities you may have had (ie working register, being trusted with the keys to close the place, etc).

Good luck...

Can you give me some good resume tips?

We Answered:

Try to keep it as brief as possible, with all your pertinent data included, education, degrees if any. Length of employment, etc. Don't mention, your salary.
A resume is, is just an introduction to a prospective employer. They don't care to go over sheets and sheets of information, so like in the old Dragnet series, "Just the facts ma'am:
If the read your resume, and like what they see, they will call you in for an interview, then they can ask you questions, and you can give them all your highlights.
Good luck in your job search.
