Works usually contains a full version of MS Word, albeit often a slightly older version than would be in the current copy of Office. Maybe you have a "lower" copy of Works (though mine only cost about £20 - how much lower can it get?). In case that's so, see if you can save as .rtf or even (worst case, because you'll have to reformat) a .txt file

Works spreadsheet is NOT the same as Excel. Excel can (sort of) open it, but I've had some funny results such as odd currency symbols popping up. However, Works spreadsheet can "save as" to Excel format and that usually comes out fine

I assume the PC with the printer does have Office on it?
