Examples On How To Write A Resume

Norma Said:

how do i write a good first job resume?

We Answered:

The good thing is that because you're young - people aren't expecting as much. Fast food restaurants, for instance, won't expect a lot of work experience. Retail stores may be looking for more.

Dress - always business casual - nothing torn, nothing baggy, presentable. If you were going to a nice restaurant level of quality. You want to give them the image that you're presentable, reliable, and hard working.

I found a few good URLs for tips on first resumes:

How do you write a resume?

As a 19 year old no employer would expect a stunning work history out of you.

Your résumé should be a summary of who you are (in the work sense). Ideally it should not be more than one page long - employers have to read a lot of these documents and soon get bored if they cannot see the 'facts' that they are looking for straight away.

A good site to look at is www.rockportinstitute.com/resumes.html. This gives a fairly comprehensive guideline to writing a résumé with hints and tips for creating a powerful document.

If you are concerned about your lack of work history then follow the recommendations for functional format to outline your skills, abilities and experience rather than the traditional chronological structure detailing jobs held. A further advantage of using the functional résumé is that is can be geared toward the job you are applying for ie if you were applying for a job as a computer technician you would detail your technical abilities and experience but if you were going for a sales assistant post you would emphasise your customer service skills.

Good luck in your search for the perfect job.

Help!! Diary of a Young Girl (Anne Frank) resume...?

We Answered:

It's a good discipline for you, but I sympathise here -- it is quite difficult to summarise a diary. Perhaps this will help you get started. http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/annefrank/…

Where can I find examples of resume's that are not job-specific?

We Answered:

you should always write your resume to the specific job you want. check monster and careerbuilder, they have free resume template and you can also do a google search and get lots of hits that way too.
