Usually, what you need to put in your resume is your achievements / experiences in schools or in an activity, organization etc. that can be of use at work, list down the skills that you have and a short paragraph about you and your strenghts. Keep it short but specific enough. (around 1-2pages)

It is a very clinical and thorough look at your professional and student history as it pertains to the subject or job at hand or being applied for. Example: my husband is qualified as an expert witness in various topics pertaining to substance influences on the body. As such, he must maintain a current CV which lists not only his training but also research he's done independently, books and journals he's read on the topic, documentaries he's studied, etc.
