Julie Said:

What's the best way to present contract work on a Resume/CV?

We Answered:

What I recently did on mine was something like this:

Temporary work City, State, 10/2006 - 11/2007

Administrative:

I simply listed the type of work followed by a few bullet points and moved on to the next one.

For you it would be Contract work/employment but you get the idea. Good luck! The job market is rough right now.

How do you put your photo with your resume/CV?

We Answered:

You can paste or staple your resume to your photo. Lots of folks now just print out from their pc when they need HS/resume. If that is an option you can print them double sided...no attachment needed.

If you are sending electronically make sure your name appears on your head shot. If it is not attached it can get lost.

When applying to international jobs, is it best to change your resume/cv to fit their spelling/wording?

We Answered:

Any company worth working for will have a diverse workforce, and will certainly have human resources people with a range of experience including international employment practices.

The main thing is to keep it short ( they will be busy) accurate ( don't lie or exaggerate) and relevant. Two sides of A4 max.
If you have other items which you feel are compelling just say " Details of volunteeting/sports/other accomplishments can be given at any interview if granted". ( Remember that "if", as it demonstrates lack of arrogance)

The only exception to the above is where you have a technical quaification, for instance in accountancy, or a local one - say in quality assurance - where you need to posit an international equivalent. Contact your awarding body and ask then for this equivalent: don't guess.

As regards spelling, I guess you are highlighting the difference between national "Englishes". Do this in the "lingua franca" of their Headquarters, so if it is London, use "colour" instead of "color", etcetera.
Other conventions include hyphenation ( high-lighting or highlighting) and, importantly, adverbial, and long, sentences.

The best source for this is e.g. The Guardian style book, or the style book of any leading newspaper, say the Wall St. Journal.
A compromise, or additional source, might be the International edition of a research journal, for instance in your area of expertise.
Good luck, this attention to detail demonstrates in itself a good approach.
