What's the difference between Sales, Customer Service, and Retail? And a few questions.?We Answered:
Hmmm... Are you looking for a position in customer service face-to-face or via telephone (as in contact center)?I'll try to answer all your questions:
Regarding the resume sample you showed: Strictly speaking, you said you have "no work experience who just wants a summer job." I believe the resume you showed is not appropriate. Better use a Functional resume. Here is a sample: http://media.monster.com/mm/usen/content…
But remove the Skills Summary as it may not be appropriate.
You can read this link for writing resume: http://newfieldrvb.googlepages.com/resum…
On your question about difference between Sales, Customer Service and Retail:
Sales is, in a nutshell, selling. You try to persuade someone to get your product or service in exchange for money or credit. You may do this face-to-face, via letters, via phone, etc.
Customer Service is a function of a business (company) that seeks to establish relationship with their customers. With most businesses, though, they seem to limit customer service to a function that reacts to customer complaints. In theory and best practice, customer service should be proactive--you prevent customer complaints. You "do" customer service maybe by answering questions, selling stuff, troubleshooting devices, identifying and resolving problems, among others.
Retail is a type of selling--meaning you sell to individual end-users and in minimal amounts, as against wholesale.
The answer to your question on "which is the job where the person might walk around going "Can I help you?" and do the cashier as well....in a department store" might be a promotional clerk, "merchandiser", cashier, or retail associate, or any term that the company has thought of to make it unique and pleasant to the ears. The company normally would indicate what is the position available. Use that in your resume to clearly indicate with which position you're interested.
I'd suggest you learn more about the company, position AND yourself first before writing your resume. This would allow you to present yourself better with the resume and with the interview. This link maybe helpful: http://jpo.esynergy.googlepages.com/joba…
Hope this has been helpful. Good luck to your hunt!

Can anyone give me a good objective example for my resume please!!! Its late!!! Whos wide awake? We Answered:
Hi, Well, I can't write in detail because I don't know what types of employment you had. But, I have written and read a lot of resumes. Think back to even the smallest things you did in your employment. Excellent customer service would be examples of things you did to assist customers. Explain things you did, or things that you went out of your way to do to assist customers. Again, I could be more specific if I knew what positions you held. Hardworking would include not missing any days, always being on time, doing things that were above and beyond your job description, doing that without being asked, seeing something that needs to be done and doing it. Multi tasker...describe jobs were you did an assortment of duties, or duties that you did simultaneously. Outgoing.....explain that you are a friendly person, a good listener, like to help people, get along with everyone, a sociable person, you enjoy working with a diverse population...and give examples if possible. Responsible....again, showing up on time, committed, always showed up for work, came in when asked to work on a day off. Well organized, just add that you enjoy working in a organized work environment. You like things orderly and believe that organization is very important, not only for your ability to work in a more constructive way but, for you to be able to do your best for the company you are working for. As a student applying for an internship the most important information whould be in your Education. Elaborate on courses taken, if in the honors program please note as well. Also, if your GPA is on the higher end 3.0 please note this under your education. If you have achieved Deans list, this info should also be on your resume.
Concerning your experience "yes"; customer service, completing reports in a timely manner, and multi-tasking.

its my first job... and its a "customer service" resume that i have to hand in.. pleeaaaasse pleeaaase... helpWe Answered:
If you have Microsoft Word they have templates that you can use. Its simple. It tells you examples to write and where. Don't get discouraged, just get to work. I doubt someone will write you one anyway since it is based on YOUR experience. There are also plenty of people here that will look it over before you turn it in.
