i need help making resumes, cover letters etc for job searching. any suggestions. also, what are some jobs t

We Answered:

Resumes are an art..but should be used as a short advertisement. Your "sale" should be in the interview. Keep the resume short and to the point, with great highlights of what past things you've done. IF you get the interview, take it as a time to sell yourself and skills. Do some homework on the company you're willing to look for. Flexibility in jobs is circumstantial; are you looking for full-time or part-time? What kind of hours? There are a lot of questions that can pop in after the initial one!

Jimmie Said:

What type, weight, and color is best to use for Resumes and Cover Letters?

We Answered:

Many resumes these days are scanned into applicant tracking systems, so plain is best.

-sans-serif font in black ink
-no watermarks, background colors, patterns, or anything else that will disctract a scanner
-plain paper of a decent weight - anything heavier than copier paper but not card stock is fine
-white or off-white are the best color choices
-no photos, clip art, etc.

Of course, the content is more important than the paper it's on - make sure it's concise, easy to read, and absolutely 100% free of typographical or grammatical errors.

What do principals look for in resumes and cover letters?

We Answered:

You need to really use the spell checker and Grammar checker: (1) ".....an educational job" , you need the word an not a ; (2) comtetitive is incorrect, it's competitive; (3) "........to stand out ? You need a question mark.
Make sure you have your documentation in order and you know exactly what job you can do. What is "an educational job?" A teacher, an assistant? Go to websites that have information on "teacher job interviews" so that you can practice what you're going to say. As for a principal, I would ask him/her how many years she/he has taught, and if it's less than 5, DO NOT WORK FOR that principal. Believe me, I didn't ask that question and had to work for principals that were never teachers and I had lots of problems. Prepare!
