Cover Letter Write

Steve Said:

For a cover letter, do I have to write addresses and manager's name for everyone of them?

We Answered:

If you submit a resume to those places you wont be hired. They only hire brain dead fools.

Alma Said:

What color of pen do you use to hand write a cover letter?

We Answered:

Use black.

Rhonda Said:

Do I write my cover letter in the email or as an attachment?

We Answered:

On the email, you give a very short version of your cover letter, so that the reader is interested in reading more of your resume and make it easier for them to find your resume if they forgot to print it out. As an attachment, put the cover letter and resume together. Make it easier for them to have both so easier to open, read, and print out.

Melissa Said:

Is it appropriate to write a cover letter ALL the time?

We Answered:

I used to always write one - then I went to an employment support group where the HR people said that most of the time, they threw out the cover letters, especially in this economy where they will get, literally, 300 applications for one job. Plus lately, online there is not an option to include one.

If you do write one - make it very, very brief. Your resume should do the speaking for you.
