Cover Letter To Resume

Robert Said:

should i send a sase envelope with my cover letter resume to prospective employer?

We Answered:

No. If you've sent a resume and a cover letter, the next step is for them to call you for an interview, not for them to mail you an application.

Lydia Said:

I sent a resume/cover letter over 2 wks ago to a local university and have heard nothing. What do I do next?

We Answered:

Every time you send out a resume/ cover letter you should follow up (within 2 weeks), unless they specify no phone calls.
I'd just give them a quick professional phone call. It does help! They probably have tons of applicants and are waiting for the ones who take the extra step.
Good luck!

Dan Said:

What can I say for this part of my resume cover letter?

We Answered:

First of all, the sentence is all wrong...They know you are looking for employment, why else would they have your resume? Second, you say "currently" and "at this time", they mean the same thing and are repetitive and wordy.

This is a better generic cover letter:

Dear Sir or Madame:

I am writing in response to your position listing. It would be a pleasure to meet with you so that I might demonstrate how my abilities fit your needs precisely.
As you will see from the attached resume, I am efficient in all areas of customer service. I am also proficient in a variety of computer software programs, including all areas of Microsoft Office.

What my resume does not reveal is my professional demeanor and appearance. In a business environment, these qualities are of the utmost importance in dealing with clients as well as colleagues. In me, you will discover a reliable, detail-oriented, and extremely hard-working associate; one who will serve as a model to encourage other staff members to demonstrate the same high standard of professionalism.

If you will contact me at (123) 456-7890, we can schedule an appointment.

Sincerely,

This generic letter doesn't require any changes except the date you submit it. Be sure to use letter head with your info, centered, at the top.
