Cover Letter And Resume

Joan Said:

What is the difference among Cover Letter, Resume and SOP(Statement Of Purpose)?

We Answered:

In most professional job applications, you are asked for a cover letter and resume. If you're asked for a statement of purpose, this likely accomplishes the same objective as a cover letter.

Your cover letter is usually the first thing a potential employer reads. It is a short letter in which you introduce yourself, give a very brief overview about your background, and explain why you wish to express interest in the job being offered. Your resume on the other hand is much more detailed. In this document, you should include personal information, all education and/or certification received, prior work experience, and any other skills that you feel your future employer might find useful.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

I'm about to hand in a application with the cover letter and resume. I need help!

We Answered:

cover letter first, then their own application, then your resume, and finally, your typing certificate.
I would suggest leaving their application stapled, as was given, but use a paperclip to hold whole thing together. I've always been advised to not staple your stuff, but use a paperclip.
good luck, hope you get it.

I have a resume and cover letter to send for a job listing on CareerBuilder. How should I send it?

We Answered:

I would send the information electronically and overnight the cover letter and resume to the recruiter with a verification signature. You will then know for a fact when the recruiting company has received your information. If a phone number is available you can follow-up with a call after the information has been received!

Sounds a little pushy but in the economic times we are in you have to stand out in the crowd to get the job.

Best of Luck
