Eg An evaluation of something you have done... Usually done as a summary if its part of a wider report unless the report is all about the particular evaluation in which case you would want:

conclusions
Experimental Details

mention any exclusion or limitations which may have an effect - eg time limitations

Introduction
This should include the proposition - what you are looking at or testing and why. Describe the functionallity what you expect or require your programme to do.

Methodology
How you went about it - what information you used - if experimenting , any controls used. I would think this is the place to describe the code you have written explaining why

Analysis
of the data or results found - essentially did it work - if you re-ran it describe what you did

Interpretation what you were able to deduce or what the results are telling you from the overall excercise

Conclusion
wrapping the whole thing up - include things that went wrong and where more research would be needed.


This is a general plan and you would need to adapt to suit your purpose, but pretty much scopes out any technical report. All you are doing is presenting the relevant information in a logical way. If you can find a model answer you will be able to see what is covered and the specific terms you should be using, otherwise go about it logically - include more sections if necessary to suit you application - remember you are writing for an informed reader , but you need to demonstrate that you understand all the terms being used.

The review folks are right. Even though "timely" ends in "ly", it is an adjective, not an adverb. Your sentence requires an adverb. You could change it a little bit to read "John did not produce the report in a timely fashion". "Timely" is an adjective that describes the noun "fashion".
