Writing Statistical Reports

John Said:

How do you write a statistical report?

We Answered:

Look a the references below. They are professional articles. You may want to model your title based on these two or another one you find on-line.

These give you an idea of the structure of articles, but I would think that this is something your customer (teacher) should give you. Is there a rubric for this assignment.

I would make sure you really understand what you are suppose to do and what you are suppose to accomplish before starting off. Otherwise you will be 1/2 way through your schedule or horrors 90% through and be doing the wrong thing.

Once you are clear on what to do enjoy the project. It sounds like fun.

Virgil Said:

How to write a statistical Report?

We Answered:

1) Identify the question your report is due to answer.
(how has population risen in NY in the last decade?)
2) Get reliable source data from which to create the report.
(NY census data 1990, 2000)
3) Take the period source data, plus other verifiable sources, and create the report (graph, table, etc)
4) Give analysis of the data if required.
(population rose dramatically in the first 3 years of the .....)
You're done!

Juan Said:

What statistical test is most appropriate for this set of data?

We Answered:

So, first you will calculate all the differences in weight (after - before) for each rat.

This will give you a list of differences for the control group, and another list of differences in the treatment group.

Then, do a two-sample t-test on these two lists. The null hypothesis is that they are the same (i.e. treatment made no difference).

Please help ASAP with Statistics question!?

We Answered:

You don't have to assume a distribution. If my assumption is correct, you want to see if the treatment has an effect i.e decreases the number of polyps.
So, you first compute the (arithmetic) mean of points before and after the treatment. Let u_b and u_a denote the means of points before and after the treatment. Now you can use a hypothesis test (specifically the t-test) to test if u_b > u_a against the null hypothesis u_b = u_a. If it the test results in a rejection of null hypothesis you know that treatment is effective.
You might want to test u_b notequalto u_a first to esure that the treatment didnt make sure that treatment does not make matters worse.
