Writing Research Reports

Clayton Said:

I want to do research and write journals and reports, but not see many patients?

We Answered:

Then you'd want to be a scientist with a PhD, not a medical doctor. Many research scientists study diseases without having to deal with patients. So you'd want to go to graduate school, not medical school. Most of the premed classes would still come in useful, but you can't pick just any major and go to grad school like you can with med school - you'll need a major in biology, chemistry, or biochem to enter most medical research PhD programs (chem by itself probably isn't enough, but you'll still need a lot of chem).

Craig Said:

Psychology majors: Did you have trouble when you first started writing lab reports/research papers?

We Answered:

Whoa, I struggled a whole lot. But I managed to graduate on time. I'm a degree holder in BS Psychology and AB Guidance and Counseling.

All you need is a pint of ice cream or a cup of coffee, the book Synopsis of Psychiatry by Sadock and Kaplan, and you're good to go. Just make sure to set realistic goals. And, you have to condition yourself that it's not too hard. Don't keep on putting it off, otherwise, you might end up finishing nothing.
