High school kids are lazy, huge sense of entitlement, and really have no idea what the real world is like. High School is literally the easiest time of your lives and all we ever hear them say is how hard it is. They are a bunch of whiners that like to act like victims despite having no repsonsibilities. Try to act like adults, and then when something goes wrong, they want to be kids again.

OK so from what you say they are asking you as a "journalist" to interview someone and write up an article on it. I've done something like this before.

Examples would be to find someone who is old enough to have gone through world war II or Vietnam (family member/neighbour or someone you know)ask them to tell you about their experience in detail and write it up or,

someone who has been arrested, find out what happened to them in detail with regard to the arresting procedure, because you could write a piece about policy and procedure not being carried out and you are exposing it as PART of the story.

You can make your "report" more personal like they do when they interview people for magazine articles, by giving a "feel" for the atmosphere and mood of the person you interviewed.

"I visited Mary in her home as she had agreed to be interviewed about her experience of being imprisoned in Thailand for smuggling drugs into the country. She was obviously still upset by the whole experience as she began to relate to me her true story.

She was going on holiday to ............. and says she was approached at the airport by a couple who befriended her, as she was travelling alone, and offered to mind her hand luggage whilst she went to the bathroom................................… etc etc she didn't realise until arrest that they had planted drugs in her bag."

In fact if you are REALLY stuck you could make up a story, and if asked say it happened to a distant relative. Hope this helps you, if not just email me and I will help you more :))

I'm not sure if there's a specific term you're looking for, but in general, not his or her job.

Conclusions should be based on the facts. Of course, there is a certain amount of judgment involved in investigative reporting, but biases shouldn't enter into it.

It is illegal to do any investigative reporting within the court house pemises. Anything you do or write - see that you are not committing Contempt of Court.
Outside, ofcourse you can do your investigative reporting, as long as it does not directly affect the jury/judgement of an undergoing case - till the time you have concrete evidence in hand. Hypothetical conjucture again would be considered an infringement in a sub-judice case.
I do not live on that side of the world - so I wouldn't know about the massacre you talking of - but you can certainly indepently interview witnesses and report the same - if those witnesses are not the same which the prosecution or defending attorneys are using for their case.
You can even try to recreate the scene of massacre - with actors
And also pehaps a semi-fictional story on the same (This is most advisable)
