Writing Book Report

Norma Said:

What does plausible mean while writing a book report?

We Answered:

Believable.

Vernon Said:

Is it neccesary to write all the verbs in past tense when writing a book report ?

We Answered:

It depends on the teacher. Some professors require present tense active, others require past tense active. At the college level, the tense isn't important as long as it is consistent (i.e. not switching back and forth between past and present tense.) Literary criticism is usually written in the present tense because it is easier to discuss a book in terms of "does, goes, says" than in "did, went, said," etc. But, like I said, it's up to the teacher. If he/she requires past tense, then for the sake of the grade-stick with past tense.

Good Luck.

Kelly Said:

When writing a book report, what do I do to the title of a series?

We Answered:

When writing down a book title (series or not) you always:

1.) make the first letter of each word CAPITALIZED. Unless it is a conjunction (and, or, as...)

2.) Underline the whole title.

So, if your book series is say,

twilight saga
you would put down

Twilight Saga
___________

(of course you would underline it the correct way with your word proccesor. I had to do that because Y!A dosen't let you use italics or underline.)

Marilyn Said:

When writing a report on a mystery book, are you suppose to reveal the mystery?

We Answered:

no, you are not meant to reveal the mystery. Most of the time, the point of a book report is to persuade people into reading the book you read. I f you give away the ending, they wont have a reason to read the book. And what is up with the job thingy... lol

Adrian Said:

Do I have to cite the book if I am writing a book report about it?

We Answered:

Yes, always quote it and cite your source. An example is: Martin Luther King once said "(inter quote here)"

Neil Said:

when writing a book report, do you underline, put in quotes, or italicize the title of the book?

We Answered:

If you're typing it within the body, italics
If you're writing it withing the body, underline
If its the title of the report, bold and underline
You only use quotes if its a chapter of the book

Angel Said:

how can I start off by writing my book report on " Now That You Know- to understanding their gay and lesbian c?

We Answered:

You could get some ideas from the reviews at amazon.com, and mention that it's won the Stonewall Book Award for "exceptional merit relating to the gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgendered experience."

Discuss It!
