You could look up information on the old fort or The Grand Hotel. Both would be an excellent place to begin. Sadly, I don't recall whether it was Ft. Mackinaw or Ft. Michimilimac. Of course, you could go to the University of South Alabama's web site, go to the history department and look up an old friend (Dr. Hughes) she used to reside there when she worked for the National Park Service.
