The topic you have asked about is a huge one, and I really don’t know how much you know about it, so first of all let me tell U about important matters.
We believe in the one and only God, He was never born and he has no child and nobody can challenge him.
Our prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) was an orphan who lived in lots and lots of difficulties before and even after he become a prophet, the first time that the angel talked to him he was 40 years old. Then the quran was send to him little by little and he memorized it, exactly the way the words and sentences was sent to him and U should know he was a shepherd who couldn’t read or write So that s why we call quran as the biggest miracle of our prophet.
Muslims believe that there were 124000 prophets before ours and we believe in all of them such as Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus who were the greatest ones and after them the last prophet Mohammad came to complete what the other prophets have done.
Muslims do believe in the end of the world and how it will be peaceful. Our savior is "Mahdy" who is Mohammad's great grandson and will come with Jesus Christ to make the change that everyone in every religion all around the world are waitin for. and in Islam it has been told that in the end of the world, the earth is belong to all the innocent people who has been oppressed.
We believe in judgment day. The day all the human will stand for justice.
We pray 5 times a day the way our prophet has taught us.
I think I have said the important matters and as long as we are in Ramadan let me explain you about it. Ramadan is our most important month because quran was send to Mohammad (PBUH) in this month. There are things that Muslims do in Ramadan such as fasting (u don't eat, drink or smoke from sunrise to sunset) one of the best things that U can do in this month is reading quran and try to become closer to God, actually it s a really sweet month for the real Muslims, they try to be as best as they can the way that their heart really get closer to each other and to God. U know what I mean? In Ramadan we shouldn’t lie we shouldn’t hurt anyone, generally we try to leave behind all of our bad habits so at the end of the month that we have one of our biggest holy days (fetr) we feel really refreshed.
There are lots of other things to say and some of the things that I have told, need to be explained more. But I wish it will help enough.
By the way I really like Hilary! And love her "The Cinderella story"! I just wanted to say that I love your photo and the name! Was that so sudden? :)

You might also want to ask your local police dept. explain what your doing and they may give you some old reports to look at to get an idea
