Betty Said:

How to improve English writing, grammar, punctuation skills?

We Answered:

First off, it would be good to note that most "English" classes in the US are no longer exactly English grammar classes and are more literature classes than anything else. [I ought to know; I sat through eleven years' worth of them.]

For writing skills and a larger vocabulary, read voraciously and force yourself to use words other than the chat vocabulary. Learning another language is actually really great for learning your own language's [in this case, English] grammar, particularly if the teacher/professor uses English equivalents to demonstrate grammar points in the other language. I've found that Latin is particularly helpful for this if not actually speaking the language, and higher-level language courses that cover more grammar are also helpful.

I'm sure that if you asked your teachers for an extra grammar lesson here and there, they wouldn't mind helping you out.

Don't trust Microsoft Word's grammar check. Ever.

A good grammar book is Eats, Shoots, and Leaves by Lynne Truss, and there are a lot of good resources—Wikipedia has a good English grammar page.

I need help writing a weather report for tuesday may 20?

We Answered:

Ok, I'll make up a situation.

Its a overcast day outside after the passage of a cold front. The high for the day is 52°F with an overnight low of 39°F. The humidity is only 40% with a 30% chance of light rain. The wind direction has shifted from SW to NW and wind speed has increased to 27 mph.

What would someone do on that day? Indoor activities are a must whether it be at home or not. At home, might as well watch tv, go on the computer, eat, sleep, and play a board game. If not at home, go to a mall (if one is nearby). Go to a movie if something good is playing.

Essay Help?! Commentary Phrases!?

We Answered:

Implying instead of this implies? I don't like to use too many words in my writing so I try to remake sentences after I write.
For example; "This illustrated in the quote __(a)___."
Try; "In this quote ___(a)__ was illustrated ______." <-- You would have to add something in the end to explain how (a) was being illustrated.
Doesn't make sense no? xP Sorry bad at explaining.
