Report Writing On Global Warming
Marjorie Said:
I am doing a report on how global warming is a natural cycle...?We Answered:
Gwens is simply indoctrinating not informing. Jeesh. Not very helpful either. Here is a site that may be usefulhttp://www.drroyspencer.com/global-warmi…
This one is useful as well

We need to be responsible where we build. The government should not insure reckless building in places too near the shore or in vulnerable places.
When the the continents moved close the poles and when the Ismuth of Panama shut off the ocean currents, the earth entered the current ice age. Other factors probably helped such as the Himalayas forming and the Indonesian Archepelago. After these features formed, the ice ages included glacial and interglacial periods. This has happened in the last 2 to 3 million years. Periods of glaciation happen about once every 100,000 years. We are currently near the maximum warmth of the current interglacial though this one has been an unusually warm and long one and in no way is it do to humans. We are just lucky to be born in this time.
There was a relatively cold period 300 to 400 years ago called the Little Ice Age or Maunder Minimum. The minimum stands for minimum number of sun spots. Since then the world has warmed about a degree a century. We currently live in the Modern Maximum (maximum refers to sun spots). There are more sun spots when the sun gives off more energy. We didn't cause the Little Ice Age and it is silly to assume we caused the warming since then. There is nothing in the recent past that isn't consistent with the past trends.

I am 15 and I am trying to write a report on global warming......I honestly do not understand what these artic? We Answered:
As you can see from the responses so far, there are differing opinions about Global Warming and its possible effects and causes.Global warming and also cooling have happened before and will probably happen again. Greenland used to be green (greener anyway), even though it is mostly ice now. That is just one example.
Another possible result of global warming is that wine grapes could be grown in Norway again. More and better crop harvests are another likely result.
Currently we seem to be in a global cooling phase for the past decade or so. There are plenty of other opinions both ways. Be sure to read various sources so you do not just get one perspective. Good luck on your report.

What is global warming ?We Answered:
Yet another means of governments taking further control of everybody where possible - and a means of making money in the name of "saving the planet" - i.e. all this recycling rubbish nonsense and all the 'low energy' light bulbs scam are just two examples they use when in fact the actual event is a purely natural cycle and there's little we could do to alter it !Cassandra Said:
Report on Global Warming?We Answered:
There's plenty of "objective proof" that global warming is real. Here are a few good summaries of a huge mountain of data:http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Ima…

In considering whether or not this is "propaganda" or a giant conspiracy, it's useful to see what large and very distinguished scientific organizations say. They ALL say global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.
The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Meteorological Association are all among them. No one has ever accused these longstanding institutions of putting out "propaganda".
Who is saying that it is "propaganda"? Just a few "skeptics" and a bunch of right wing fanatics. With no proof. Their most popular argument (It's the Sun) has been refuted by the data. As have all their other pseudoscientific arguments:
http://environment.newscientist.com/chan…
Why would anyone choose to believe them, instead of the vast majority of scientists? Only a minority of people do.
There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/a…
And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

"climate science from climate scientists"
EDIT - BOATMAN 1 - Read your own link. His whole point is that while there've been past changes, we're responsible for this one. "Of course, 1 Celsius ain't much compared to the 15°-20° Celsius cooling throughout the Cenozoic - but it's happening fast, and and it's not over yet! With all the changes the Earth has experienced over its history, one might think one more change is no big deal. In the long run, yes. But the future of humanity depends crucially on what happens in the "short run": the next millennium or two. If we didn't mess around with the climate, our Earth's climate might remain stable for another thousand years or more. As it is, we're bringing on more sudden changes."
Alfredo Said:
Can you give me facts on how Global Warming isnt real?We Answered:
Top scientists have refuted man's affect on the climate such as Astrophysicist Nir Shariv who stated, "Solar activity can explain a large part of the 20th-century global warming. Particularly because of the evidence that has been accumulating over the past decade of the strong relationship that cosmic-rays have on our atmosphere.""The sun's strong role indicates that greenhouse gases can't have much of an influence on the climate."
Even doubling the amount of CO2 by 2100, for example, "will not dramatically increase the global temperature."
Oregon state climatologist, George Taylor said that "the global warming seen in the past century is caused largely by natural events, including cyclical climate patterns and solar fluctuations linked with cosmic rays and changes in cloud cover."
I don't think there is a debate about whether global warming is occurring, but the idea that it is man made is a myth. Remember, the UN that came out with a recent report about climate change is a political entity that has done many things to prove it is not a credible, un-biased source. A recent example is the oil for food scandal that diverted millions of dollars to UN members and others. Also, even if there was man made climate change, China (the world's second-largest greenhouse gas emitter) and India are not going to embrace fossil fuel consumption.
Additionally, many scientists disagree about climate change and 17,000 signed a petition against the Kyoto treaty. Unfortunately, the sales focussed media who know little about this, spin it to suit their own opinions. So, its highly debatable whether humans are influencing global warming. Another thing to consider is that every 11,500 years, the earth goes through a major extinction with a global warming and cooling phase (ice age.) Paleontologists are able to track this through soil samples. We may actually be headed into an ice age because we are coming to the tail end of the current cycle. The problem is that the media and politicians get focussed on a piece of the puzzle and try to simplify this issue. Don't be fooled. There is probably nothing humans can do. Even if we could, there is no way you can control China who is becoming a major world polluter. Humans will need to adapt to climate change. Where I live there are small changes in our weather pattern, but nothing major. A lot of the media is hype to sell newspapers. The only caution is that some past climate changes have been more radical, swinging wildly from hot to cold. Others have brought on instant and severe cold conditions. I know the area that I live used to be buried in hundreds on feet of ice, but temperatures are mild today... Humans will just need to wait and see what mother nature brings and adapt as necessary.
