Reflective writing simply means, how did you think you did on your role playing exercise? How good did you think you were? Were you feeling nervous, or confident? Did you relate well to the person you were role playing with? Is there anything you would change, for the next time you had to do this? What things could be improved.

Its basically all about you, and how you think you did. You can write it in the first person too, not the third person. Like...."I feel that I lacked confidence in this bit, but I know why..." blah blah.

This is like writing a story!

It says to use your imagination! Don't be afraid!

I will give you some tips, or even some of my ideas.

1. Make the article like a movie in your head. (This will help you move along)
2. Make a story line. (you don't have to write it out. Just think about it.)
3. USE YOUR IMAGINATION! It's okay! There is no right or wrong answers here.

Make yourself be in the story itself. Act like you are a detective or something. Imagine talking to them, and walking around the place.

Here is one of my ideas:

I am in the place, I greet the elderly occupants. I search around the old house, and find vases. The vases has large amounts of cash. I find out that there is a door on the floor. It was perfectly sealed and it almost tricked me. I used a paper clip to open the seam, and took a very thin sheet of metal and opened the door. I asked the elderly occupants to stay upstairs. I walk down, and I see lots of objects: maps, books, more vases, boxes. I later find a book that says, "FINAL DRAFT." I open it carefully, and it turns out to be a ........................... by .......................! It is hundreds of years old with actual handwritings on it! I later hear knocking somewhere. A misty figure came to me. He/she said, "You have found me. Tell them that this is theirs, and I am their ............................. I will be gone to the woods. Thank you."

Well, I know that's very stupid and useless, but it just gives you an idea that anything is possible. Just write down what you see in your head to words. Anything is possible! USE YOUR IMAGINATION!

The test is not very hard but they do select the highest scoring candidates. I suggest you look at the experiences of previous applicants on the boards.ie website (just type "garda reserve boards.ie" into google and you will find it. There, previous applicants have documented their experiences.

Can I also suggest that you don't allow the insulated and quite frankly rude views of the other respondants to put you off applying for a position which is not only helping the community but also will play a major part in your life.
