Perhaps you mean "What sort of English do you you, when writing a report?" ? If so, then the answer is formal, not informal. So, for instance, in a report you wouldn't use contractions like "wouldn't" but would always write them out properly: would not. You would write in the third person, not first or second, thus: "It was found that...." "Mrs X reported that...." and so on.

Not sure what the media part of your question means; that is not report-writing, but you may mean reporting, say, the news in the media; that would be a different kind of Engllish.
