News Paper Report Writing

Sandra Said:

Can i get a report written on PEREGRINE FALCON?

We Answered:

this excerpt
Overview

The peregrine is a large and powerful falcon. It has long, broad, pointed wings and a relatively short tail. It is blue-grey above, with a blackish top of the head and an obvious black 'moustache' that contrasts with its white face. Its breast is finely spotted. It is swift and agile in flight, chasing prey. The strongholds of the breeding birds in the UK are the uplands of the north and west and rocky seacoasts. Peregrines have suffered persecution from gamekeepers and landowners, and been a target for egg collectors, but better legal protection and control of pesticides (which indirectly poisoned birds) have helped the population to recover considerably from a low in the 1960s. Some birds, particularly females and juveniles, move away from the uplands in autumn.
Where to see them

Found along rocky seacliffs and the uplands of the UK are both good places in the breeding season. East coast marshes where there are large gatherings of birds can be a good place in the winter. There is a wardened RSPB watchpoint at Symonds Yat in Gloucestershire where you can see peregrines on a nest site.
When to see them

All year round
What they eat

Medium-sized birds, such as wading birds, pigeons and small ducks.

Ana Said:

i have to write a newspaper report on Jesus can any one please help!!?

We Answered:

Nothing like leaving it to the last minute!

Imagine you are a reporter and you have to give an account of the events (as you describe). Start by looking at a page from a local paper to see how an article is laid out. Read a version of the story (a children's bible is best - whatever your age!) to get the facts. Then imagine witnesses giving you their account as they saw it; write it down with quotation marks around quotes; describe the person giving their personal account, for example, Sam Brown, 34, a local shopkeeper said "blah, blah". Maybe, have another witness telling you they saw something in a different way (an opposite point of view, e.g. if Sam was pleased make witness number two totally outraged to see that going on). A graphical image would enhance the report; describe the scene (imagine you are in the garden) as you see it now after the event.

I assume this an RE project therefore your understanding and interpretation of religious events are being assessed. However, if it's English, you will get extra marks for composition - Sentence structure, paragraphs; spelling, pronouns with capital letters (leave the text language out), use of verbs and adjectives, etc.

Tip: if you haven't been given a specified word count or told how much space to use try to use one side of A4 including the image.

Remember it is an article to appear in a newspaper, set it out as if it is on the newspaper page (columns, justified text, etc).

Nag: You really would benefit in getting organised with your homework, I'm sure you'd rather be doing something else but it is worth the time planning. It's less stressful and will give you a great sense of pride in your acheivements knowing you had put in the effort.

Good luck!

Newspaper Report help?

We Answered:

It sounds like you should be reading your English Lit book, and talking to the teacher about what you do not understand.

Nellie Said:

Do you think news paper reports should be held responsible for the stories they write?

We Answered:

I think they should be, but unfortunately they are not. Yes, they should be made to set the record straight.

News paper report help!?

We Answered:

I take it you mean you have to invent a newspaper story with this plot, and the boy dies?

It doesn't have to be a news story - presumably it could be a feature, and you could be reporting on why kids do these things. Start off by telling the story simply in one paragraph. Then do a short "interview" with his grieving mother who has been asking herself (as she would) why he would have done it - he was happy at home, loved his little brother and sister, was good at school, had everything to look forward to etc.

Then you analyse "why". Do you know anyone who has done this kind of thing? Try thinking yourself into the mind of a boy aged, say, 15 who would do something so stupid and dangerous. His mates dared him, maybe? Or he wasn't very popular at school (why?) and he thought it would get him some respect? Or he was trying to impress a girl he liked, because she'd told him she admired boys who showed they had guts? Imagine you go to his school, interview his friends, find out what his actual motive was.

Then you conclude on what can be done to prevent this happening again. Educating teenagers on resisting peer pressure would be a good one, if that's what "happened". This ought to be part of the school curriculum (personal/social education), but parents must play a big part too ... the conclusion really depends, though, on what your conclusion is for his motives.

Just a few thoughts, hope it helped.
