Sandra Said:

Which indicator out of these three here are the best for measuring development?

We Answered:

First: Development is not necessarily improvement.

Right now we have to all develop our political and ecconomic policies because of the greater life expectancy, this is development of policies that historically assumed that the retired would be short lived, not necessarily improvement, because it means that the money available has to pay for more people who do not contribute. So the developed policy may mean that the age of retirement must be higher, 70 years maybe.

GDP is now affected, becaus although we now have our 60s aged folk in work and adding to the pot, it also means that they are not giving up their jobs for younger people. We now have less jobs available for school/college leavers, so at the time when they most need to be trained, they miss it.

So the higher retirement age may have added to the cost of running the social background. Police to deal with bored teens and those tempted into crime because they can not see another way to make money.

Literacy also affects this. In africa as the villages learned more they studied more. They had a field outside the hut, seeds to plant for next years harvest. But they read a book, magazine or view an internet page. Why should we be scraping dry soil for food that might not even grow, when my email friend in the UK is eating 4 meals a day, never needs to fetch water and even if he doesn't work he gets money from the community.

So you get people wanting to bypass the field and instead make a months wages killing an ape and fashioning its dismembered hand into an ornament. Or they will cut down a few forests, because one year's growth of hash (which is all they get because of the thin soil) brings in enough to pay a years money, now they can start living like their mates in the west.

Then comes the mad scramble to make their lives interesting to themselves, opertunities to make a good living. Industries practically given away just to save the forests and the apes. But it is hard to sit in a factory sewing on shoe buckles when one Apes hand would mean you can have an iPod.

So each of your options have development opertunities dependant upon them in the other two options.

I think it is wrong to select one of them.

Ronald Said:

is it better to have a high or low per capita GDP?

We Answered:

First, lets make sure we understand what "per capita GDP" means.

GDP is the measure of the over all economy. The "per capita" means dividing the GDP by the number of people.

A higher per capita GDP means a more efficient economy - fewer people making more goods, services, investments, etc. Higher efficiency is always better.

You may also want to look a the Human Development Index. Hope this helps, links are below.

Stephen Said:

What can i do to find Literacy Critism on Mark Twain's Prince and the Pauper?

We Answered:

Try Google Scholar; it should have journal articles and scholarly papers on the subject.

To write the paper, you take one or more articles, and discuss what they have in common with each other. You can then also discuss whether they support your opinion of Twain, or say why you disagree with them.

By seeing what others have to say about a writer and his work, you learn to see it in a new way, picking up on things you may never have thought of before.

Stephanie Said:

Can You Help Me In Making A Poem With The Theme, "FAMILY LITERACY: READING BEGINS WITH US"?

We Answered:

We are reading to our baby
Though he may not understand.
He'll pick up words from here and there
and become our little man.
He may become an expert from starting out so young.
Repeating words that we read
to our little son.
He learns about his interest even though he's really young.
Teaching him to read my friend can be so very fun.
Will you read to your child
It's not allot of fuss.
Knowing your child is learning
and it all began with us.

Timothy Said:

I need help writting a literacy narrative?

We Answered:

I think it's good because during the few paragraphs you have written you show how you were transformed from being a non-reader to that of being a voracious reader. And that as you may know is what makes a good story, the transformation of a character, or one attaining his or her goal.

Good Job.
