How To Write Lab Report

Joyce Said:

I have to write a lab report for chemistry but need help writing a purpose.?

We Answered:

What is the purpose...
Always state...
- What you will do (very brief)
- What effects you hope to see

For example, "The aim of this experiment is to observe whether two substances, when mixed together, will form a solid"

Jerome Said:

I have to write a lab report for my AP physics class (just one page), anyone know how the format is?

We Answered:

Title: name of prac

Purpose: this is the aim of the prac, it is usually given to you

Materials: all the equipment you used

Procedure: This is the method, it should be written step by step what you did

Results and observations: instead of anaylsis and data, just do it all in results here, show your findings and tell us what they mean.

Margin of error/discussion: talk about why the prac isnt totally accurate and what you could have done to make the results more accurate.

Conclusion: this should actually be last, answer the aim and elaborate.

How do I write a formal lab report for a college microbiology class?

We Answered:

You should also include extra information about the organism/ group of organisms. Simply describe the logical steps you took - eg "A urease test was carried out on the sample, which came back as negative, and so a citrate test was carried out. This test was returned negative which along with the results showing the organism to be motile, the bacterium can be identified as belonging to the genus Edwardsiella."

If you only get as far as identifying the genus you should mention what you could have done to identify the genus.

Hoe that helped.....e-mail me if you have any questions

Problem with Lab report write up?

We Answered:

Cu(NO3)2(aq) + Na2CrO4(aq) --> CuCrO4(s) + 2NaNO3(aq)
The net ionic equation is the equation for the net change that has taken place.
A solution of Cu(NO3)2 is really Cu^+2 ions and NO3^-1 ions
A solution of Na2CrO4 is really Na^+1 ions and CrO4^-2 ions
A solution of NaNO3 is really Na^+1 ions and NO3^-1 ions

What has changed?
Cu^+2 ions and CrO4^-2 ions have been converted into an insoluble compound: CuCrO4. Cu^+2 ions and CrO4^-2 ions no longer exist in solution.

The net ionic equation (the equation for the net change that has taken place) is-

Cu^+2 + CrO4^-2 --> CuCrO4(s)

The NO3^-1 and the Na^+1 ions are still floating around in the solution unchanged.

How do I write this lab report for biology? HELP!?

We Answered:

The introduction of a lab report states the purpose of your experiment.
1.Your hypothesis should be included in the introduction
2. A brief statement about how you intend to test your hypothesis.

For example:

The purpose of this lab experiment is to become familiar with a microscope. The lab is performed in the Blah Blah Blah High School lab using a Brand's Name compound microscope. It is hypothesized that it will be difficult to use the microscope without any previous training and that the parts and their function must be learned in order to use it correctly. To test the hypothesis, a short lab experiment will be conducted where students will use premounted slides which have a small piece of paper with the letter e typed on it. During this experiment, the low and high objectives will be used in order to observe the material on the slide.
